Stacks was founded in 1931 by Edward Raymond ‘Ray’ Stack, who grew up on a farm outside Parkes, and gained a scholarship before graduating with honours in law from the University of Sydney. Ray opened a sole practice in Wingham in 1931 at the height of the Great Depression, and quickly built a reputation for providing expert, friendly and cost-effective legal services. Today, Stacks is an organisation of more than 200 people in a robust network of law firms across NSW and southern Queensland, including eight lawyers in Tamworth and Walcha.
