Monique is a solicitor at Stacks Law Firm, based in Melbourne.
She completed her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees at the University of Wollongong and was admitted as a solicitor in early 2019.
She worked part-time in the commercial litigation and insolvency team for two years while studying. Working at Stacks Law Firm has sparked a keen interest and understanding of this particular area of law.
Monique has experience in conducting public examinations and litigation for liquidators, trustees and litigation funders under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth) in the Supreme Court and Federal Court.
She has also worked on a number of applications under the Cross-Border Insolvency Act 2008 (Cth) and the Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, to recognise foreign proceedings and enable trustees to pursue claims in Australia.
Monique has successfully assisted liquidators with various applications under the Corporations Act, including for approval or extensions under sections 477(2A), 477(2B) and 588FF(3).
Monique has excellent attention to detail and is skilled in drafting legal documents. She enjoys working directly with clients and problem solving. One of her strongest legal skills is undertaking forensic analysis of voluminous company documents to identify potential claims.
Monique’s optimism and sense of humour greatly contribute to maintaining a healthy balance while managing the challenges of working in the legal profession.
When not working, Monique loves playing hockey and currently plays for Brunswick Hockey Club. She is also an avid coffee drinker.
