Riders gearing up for this months Goulburn to Sydney Charity Cycle received a boost thanks to a generous donation from local business Stacks the Law Firm.
Principal and Managing Director, Mark Howard, a cyclist enthusiast himself, donated $2000 in sponsorship for the Goulburn Cycling Club team.
The Goulburn team will use the Ride to raise money for the local palliative care and oncology group.
Since 2005 the Ride has raised $810,000 for valued charities and the Goulburn Cycle Club team raised $8000 alone last year.
The decision to donate was a two-pronged conclusion from Mr Howard.
I saw it as important to support the teams endeavours to raise much needed funds for the Goulburn and District Pallative Care and Oncology Support Groups and also to support local cycling.
Mr Howard was hopeful hell take his place in the Goulburn Cycle Club line-up next weekend. His chances of completing the journey hinge on the recovery of recent wounds sustained from a fall, part-and-parcel of life as a keen cyclist.
In the meantime however, he was just happy to support a good cause.
Team member Jim Hoskins said the squad would contemplate changing its name in a show of thanks to Stacks the riders appreciate the sponsorship and support of Stacks The Law Firm.
Six teams will partake in this years ride, which begins in the heart of Goulburn and concludes in Camden, on the very outskirts of Sydney.
Rugby legend Simon Poidevin will head a team from Paradice Investment Management, William Dangar a side from Albion Cycles, Michael Price a group on behalf Macquarie Bank, Campbell Reid a side from One Degree and Graeme Derrig a team from Campbelltown Catholic Club Youth Solutions.
