Students across the Manning are busily preparing themselves for this year’s Rotary Manning Valley Schools Spectacular at the Manning Entertainment Centre on October 27.
Joining the local talent on stage are special guests ACMF founder Don Spencer, acclaimed musical conductor George Ellis and cellist Rachel Scott.
George has attended both the 2014 and 2015 concerts and was excited to be involved again.
This year the program for the evening gala has a theme of Mozart to McCartney, with local musicians performing a number of Beatles numbers from George’s show The Beatles Orchestrated.
Local ACMF tutor Jake Davey will provide the vocal talent to perform Paul McCartney’s Let It Be.
A classical flavour will be added to the concerts with some beautifully sung Mozart arias and the fabulously famous Adagio from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto performed by Mitchell Brown on solo clarinet with a string orchestra conducted by George.
Young performers from across the Manning Valley to entertain include Olivia and Kiara Hollis, Cassidy Donovan, duo Sweet Nothin’ (Grace Callaghan and Jai Harrison), St Clare’s Vocal Ensemble Cadence and the Manning Valley Youth Band.
Taree Christian College, Wingham High, Manning Valley Anglican College, Taree High School, Cundletown Public and Taree West Public are all booked in to perform, as well as newcomers Bobin Public School.
Rachel Scott from the Australian Children’s Music Foundation will perform with students from Manning Gardens, Taree Public and Chatham Primary schools, while ACMF founder and musician/songwriter Mr Don Spencer will be back singing the songs we all remember from our childhoods.
Tickets are on sale now for the matinee and evening performances. Anyone wishing to attend the evening gala should book now (through the Manning Entertainment Centre) to avoid disappointment.
For further information contact Rotary chairman Maurie Stack at Stacks Law Firm 6592 6511 or producer Tanya Brown at Bass’n’Blues 6551 5067.
All proceeds will support the Manning Music Program of the ACMF at five of the Manning Valley’s public schools.
