Tanner joined the Stacks network as a lawyer at Stacks Davis. He has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University.
Prior to commencing with Stacks, Tanner worked as a paralegal at Westpac for three years while completing his law degree and undertaking his practical legal training. He was primarily in the Global Transaction Services Team, but also spent time in the Financial Markets Team.
While it was his keen interest in criminal law that initially attracted him to a legal career, Tanner’s love of business management and his commerce degree ultimately drew him to corporate law.
After completing his law degree and considering the area of law he wanted to specialise in, he found that insolvency was the perfect fit.
Tanner enjoys the problem-solving and investigative component of insolvency, relishing the opportunity to apply his commercial mindset and be involved with corporations. Working in insolvency means he can utilise his knowledge in both law and commerce.
Tanner thrives in the insolvency environment, which requires continual learning and constant adaptation to legal problems, as no two matters are the same.
Tanner’s organisational skills were recognised in his role at Westpac, where he received two CEO awards – one was for a project involving a JIRA workflow for his area, which resulted in improved workflow efficiency, and the other for streamlining and simplifying a major government agency’s banking experience.
Outside of work, Tanner attends the gym and plays football for North Footscray Football Club, where he is the vice-captain of the senior team. He is an avid golfer and plays off a single digit handicap. When he is not playing football or golf, Tanner spends time with his partner, Steph, and friends.
