Ashleigh is a Senior Associate at Stacks Law Firm in Laurieton. She was admitted as a solicitor in 2016. Ashleigh is also a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and has completed the training required to be an Independent Children’s Lawyer (awaiting panel appointment). She is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator.
With eight years of legal experience, Ashleigh has worked across many areas of law, including property law and conveyancing, civil and commercial law (leases, sales and purchase of business), family law (parenting and property); and wills and estates. She has had some experience in criminal law and is interested in doing further work in this area.
Ashleigh has a particular interest in property law and family law. She enjoys negotiating and resolving matters to achieve a just and equitable outcome for her family law clients, finding it particularly rewarding when a client’s matter concludes, or their property settles, and they have achieved a good outcome with a positive experience.
A successful family law parenting matter she worked on involved a client’s baby being taken by the baby’s father, despite an AVO being in place. Ashleigh was able to obtain an urgent recovery order and have the baby returned. The matter then proceeded to final hearing, where she was able to locate evidence that ensured final orders were made to protect the child and in turn, her client.
Ashleigh has extensive experience appearing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
She has excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, which is helpful in negotiating a resolution in difficult legal matters. She was previously the branch manager for a Newcastle law firm, which enhanced her management, organisational and leadership skills.
Although she originally aspired to be an economist, Ashleigh was drawn to a career in law after she commenced studying and became a paralegal, quickly realising it was her passion. She was inspired by the idea of helping people, which is why she has always enjoyed working in family law.
When not at work, Ashleigh enjoys spending time with her two young children, particularly taking care of their animals together on their acreage. She also likes having coffee with friends and going for walks.
